Okay readers I need your help!
How do YOU wake up and get going in the morning?
Do you have any special tricks or a routine that works?

(I know some of you have kids and they're the ones who wake you up...
But I don't have kids.. I just have me, my sleepy husband, and our alarms.)

I know we should probably get more sleep...Yes I know
But in high school I didn't get much sleep and I don't remember it being this hard to wake up.

Should I listen to music?
Is there something I should eat/drink? (that isn't coffee)
Should I slap myself in the face a few times? ha ha
Do I need to buy that pillow that has a light in it?
etc. etc. etc. etc.

Come on people, give me your awesome ideas

I am the worst at waking up. Especially if I don't have work in the morning.. I love my sleep and my bed. Luckily, my husband is a go getter in the morning and he will always wake me up if I ask him to.
When we weren't married, I would set three alarms each morning, 10 minutes apart, so I was bothered just enough to completely wake up. But I'm in your same boat, so I will check back and see what other people do cuz I need some advice! :)

I had such a hard time getting out of bed and its even harder now that I have Kinsey ha! The only thing that would get me up was to set my alarm and have it far from my bed. I use my phone for an alarm clock and when I go to bed it sits on the dresser far from my side of the bed so when it goes off in the morning I have to physically get out of bed haha

I usually think that if I won't get up now, I may not have a time to put my make-up on. Horrible!
It's not that I put heavy make-up or I'm an addict, it's just I know I'm going to rush with everything and I always prefer to be 15 minutes early rather than 1 minute later.

I try and drink a ton of water the night before and so when I wake up, I have to go the bathroom pretty quickly...It works sometimes!

The experts say that it is best to get an established routine - that is to go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every day. Perhaps working on that would help. I know that works for me. Then you don't have to reinvent the wheel every day - your body knows what to expect and so goes along with it easier and easier each day.

Hi Emily! Now that you live in the depths of despair that is Western Washington I would recommended a really bright light. I found it hard to wake up too the first year I lived here. For those of us who are from a place where the sun usually shines it's hard to acclimate to the darkness here. I've always wanted to get one of those lights that starts small and then grows really bright. It's supposed to be better than an alarm clock and also gives you more energy. I know Costco had one for a while and I was tempted to get it. -Ali D.

Wow, that totally makes sense! I'm definitely going to check out one of those lights. Thanks Ali!
